Is there a natural remedy for dark circles under the eyes-to lighten?

Posted on March 8th, 2010 by admin

i’ve read that dark circles may be caused by a vitamin deficiency, particularly, vitamin K. i know because i suffer from them myself. i started taking a multivitamin each day, for the dark circles and my health in general. i have to admit, they aren’t nearly as bad.

    I don’t know if theres a cure but i have the same problem, and if you buy green concealer and put it on before your base/foundation and then blend it as you blend your base/foundation it cancels out all the blue!

    Dark under eye circles can be caused by many things…lack of sleep, poor nutrition, stress…the list goes on. As for natural remedies, I don’t know. I know I haven’t found any that work for me.

    The best way to hide them is with a color-correction concealer stick as partially mentioned before. However, the other replier was wrong in her choice of color. The concealer should be yellow to counter the blue undereye circles. The green sticks are used to diminish redness (blemishes, blotchy skin, etc.). Apply sparingly and blend well then apply foundation and set with powder.

    If the circles are puffy, you may want to try dabbing just a little Preparation H, just below the line.

    Most sites I checked out say it is likely a vitamin deficiency!

    Check out this site: {it is the American Academy of Dermatology, it says you need vitamin K}

    You have a few options.

    Option 1: Use the right concealer. Test out the best colors at a department store counter or at Sephora. (Tip: Tell the makeup artist you are looking to correct the undereye circles and are testing several different types before purchase). Choose concealer that’s a shade lighter than your foundation. And if your circles are very dark, go 2 shades lighter. You might be choosing a concealer that’s too light if you are getting a ‘raccoon look’ which is more noticeable outside rather than inside.

    Option 2: Invest in a vitamin K-based eye product Eye creams such as Vita-K Solution gel or Peter Thomas Roth Power K Eye Rescue. They can help strengthen capillary walls so dark circles and veins become less visible.

    Option 3: Laser treatment If you have a chronic case of undereye circles, you should contact a doctor about lasers. Lasers can thicken the skin by increasing collagen production, so you are less likely to see veins.

    Hope this helped!

    If you would like to apply home remedies to reduce dark circles, here are some of my suggestions:
    Buy a box of regular, old fashioned unflavored gelatin (e.g. Knox) from grocery store. Take a small cup or bowl and put in 1 teaspoon of the gelatin mix. Add one tablespoon of boiling water & stir for a minute. Test it on your wrist to make sure it is not too hot. Then, using a cotton ball, pat it under your eyes as you would an eye cream or gel. Go lie down and listen to some music, or take a bath & let it stay on for at least 30 minutes. Then just rinse it off.Gelatin is very high in Vitamin K & Biotin. It will not remove your dark circles on the first application (but you will notice a difference), but if you do it daily for a week, and then 2-3 times a week for maintenance, you should notice a drastic reduction in dark circles.
