Do cucumber slices really help get rid of dark circles under your eyes?
Posted on October 18th, 2009 by admin
And if they do, what is the best way to use them? I have dark circles under my eyes and have tried many things to get rid of them. I get eight hours of sleep every night. I excercise and eat right every day. I avoid pops and sugar. I don’t drink, smoke, or do drugs. I take good care of my skin. I am even trying a eye cream through avon. Nothing seems to make much of a difference. I heard that many people have used cucumbers and gotten great results. I want something that is simple and affordable. I don’t want to consider any cosmetic surgery if it isn’t affordable. If someone has a suggestion other than cucumbers, I would be willing to hear that too. Thank you for your time.
There are many causes of dark circles, from age, heredity, allergies, cold or sinus infection, bone structure and glasses which are not so commonly known.

If you would like to apply home remedies to reduce dark circles, here are some of my suggestions:
Buy a box of regular, old fashioned unflavored gelatin (e.g. Knox) from grocery store. Take a small cup or bowl and put in 1 teaspoon of the gelatin mix. Add one tablespoon of boiling water & stir for a minute. Test it on your wrist to make sure it is not too hot. Then, using a cotton ball, pat it under your eyes as you would an eye cream or gel. Go lie down and listen to some music, or take a bath & let it stay on for at least 30 minutes. Then just rinse it off.Gelatin is very high in Vitamin K & Biotin. It will not remove your dark circles on the first application (but you will notice a difference), but if you do it daily for a week, and then 2-3 times a week for maintenance, you should notice a drastic reduction in dark circles.

Cucumbers are used to redice puffiness in the eye area, but maybe they can cure undereye circles, but that never worked for me.
You, my friend, are in the exact same boat as me; no matter how much I take car of myself, sleep, wash my face, and all that the dumb undereye circles are still there. The only thing I can do is keep trying creams and in the mean time, just conceal them with concealer. GOOD LUCK, I feel you pain. :-]

No, I also think cucumber are just for puffiness. If there is a Merle Norman near you purchase their Wrinkle Smoother eye cream (not any others) that is the one that helps reduce dark circles. Before you buy it ask them if it doesn’t work if you can bring it back within 30 days with a receipt. Most will. That is the only thing that help my daughter with hers, Good luck! I know it is a pain.

Yes, they can help but so will most any cool compress. I usually take 2 soft wash-clothes, wet them, and add ice cubes inside. I lie on my back with the cube parts in my eye socket (while my eyes are closed of course). After about 15-20 minutes remove. I also keep my eyes moisturizer in the fridge as well as my face moisturizer. Great in the summer!

i believe they will only take away puffiness in the eyes , for the dark circles it is best to use a light cover stick , also get a doctor to run blood tests it could mean you are anemic lacking iron in your body , you may need to takle iron pills and a good vitamin

You can also get a product from nutrimetics called cucumber gel. I have used it for years as I have had the same problem. Didn’t get rid of the darkness but did improve it and also you don’t have to lie there with cucumbers on your eyes. But if you worry about them during the day when you are at work or where ever. Put a yellowish eyeshadow over the darkness, then a concealer then a foundation. You will be amazed at the difference this will make.
