How to conceal dark circles under eyes?

Posted on February 26th, 2010 by admin

I have tried the yellow toned ones, but they just give the area under my eyes a grayish tinge and it doesn’t match the rest of my face. My under eye circles are horrible and i have no idea how to cover them up. Please don’t say "just sleep more" because i have tried this and is doesn’t work. Also, how do you get rid of the morning under eye puffiness. My puffiness seems to continue into later in the day also.

I would get some good, quality makeup. Sometimes the cheaper stuff can make you look a little cakey they just downright clash with your skin. I typically will make a minor splurge on my undereye concealers, and I think it is worth it. My favorites are Bo-ing by Benefit (it is super easy to apply, stays on, and does its job well) and Corrector by Bobbi Brown (it is very long lasting and the most natural looking- my fave.) I put the links to them online in the sources section, but I would suggest making a trip to some department store makeup counters to get the shade that is sure to match your skin.

Once you start working with a concealer, remember to…

1. Be sure to drink enough water.

2. Wear sunscreen with a minimum of SPF 30 under the eyes to prevent skin weakening caused by sun damage.

3. Get plenty of rest.

4. Apply plain cool teabags over closed eyes. Don’t use herbal teabags, because most aren’t as effective.

5. Apply cool cucumber slices over closed eyes for 15 minutes.

6. Be careful not to consume too much salt.

7. Apply vitamin K cream. Although studies haven’t looked at the use of topical vitamin K for dark circles under the eyes, preliminary studies have found that vitamin K may help with bruising.

8. Vitamin C helps to strengthen blood vessel walls.

… to keep your peepers happy and healthy even without makeup on!

Good luck!

A yellow tinted concealer isnt for dark circles.
A peach-ish tinted one is though.

Makeup Forever brand has a good peachish colored concealer thats excellent for covering dark circles.

Fill a baggie up with cold milk and place it on your eyes.
It’s to make blood vessels go down (or something like that)
and makes your skin’s real color come out

Hm…yeah, I wanted to say sleep more, but maybe this is caused by a poor diet. Try to take in more iron. And plenty of fluids help as well. For a home made remedy, I’d suggest using tea bags that have been soaked in warm water, drained, and allow it to sit on the area. To reduce puffiness, I usually soak a cotton ball, stick in the freezer for about 5 mins and carefully put it where it’s puffy and try to relax for 5 mins at a time.

If you need a concealer, have you ever considered getting a color that matches your skin tone?

Hemorroid (sp?) cream on your undereye bags will instantly help reduce puffiness–I know it sounds crazy but all the Hollywood stars swear by it and it actually does work. Other home remedies are cucumber slices and milk-soaked cotton balls, both which work very well. As far as a cover for circles, buy one of those eye liner/shadow crayons in a pale pink shimmer and draw it directly onto your circles and blend slightly. The light particles in the crayon will deflect light and literally make your undereye circles disappear. Drawing it into the inner corner of your eye will also help because it will make you look more awake.

you should use a peachish colour of concealer if your eyes are puffy if there are just dark circles under them then you should put foundation and then if you want you can put a bit of bronze
