Could this be the cause for dark circles under my eyes?

Posted on February 20th, 2010 by admin

To start off, I’ve had dark circles under my eyes for about 4-5 years and I’m not quite sure of the cause; though i think im coming close. I eat healthy foods (only drink water, eat lean meats and whole grain breads, take vitamin supplements) and generally take care of myself VERY well. Every night, I sleep from 12 AM to 7 AM depending on if I have school the next day (senior in high school). I go to the gym 3 times a week(lift) so I am in no way unhealthy. I weigh 150 pounds and am 5′11 and for my height im kinda skinny with some muscle. I’ve tried all the methods to reduce bags under my eyes but simply none of them WORK! Its really got me stressing because people constantly notice them and worry that im not getting enough sleep or that something is troubling me. The one thing that I think might be causing bags under my eyes at this point is the fact that every day i use the computer for about 4 hours in a completely dark room with just the monitor as light. Could this be the cause?
i drink about 3-4 L of water a day the way my work out is planned. I’m never tired in school but I will try going to bed at 11 and cutting my computer time down some. I’ll also be sure to schedule an appointment with a professional to see if there is something else innately wrong with me. Thanks for the help guys, I really hope I can solve this problem.

it very well could be the issue. If this problem is noticeable by others, like you say it is, then you need to see a doctor.
I can recommend home remedies to you, but if it is a health problem, it won’t make much of a difference.

- tea bags (place cold tea bags on each eye for 30 minutes, repeat this regimen daily, for a week)
- eat foods high in iron content like cod fish, liver, meat nuts,
- get plenty of rest
- Drink 6-8 glasses of water per waking day

These are ideas that I think will recuperate you. Girl, you at least ought to visit your doctor.

:) Well you seem to live a very healthy life and i really look up to you.

But leaving this aside, bags under the eyes can also be genetic, and they can appear during the teens.

I’m not so convinced it’s the computer. A lot of people without this problem use the pc for more hours a day than you.

Try going to bed at 10:30 or 11:00 for 3 weeks. Have someone take close up photos of your eyes now. And again in mid November. You will probably me amazed. 7 hours of sleep is not really enough for a senior in high school.

Yes, use of computer might be a cause. If you cut your computer usage by an hour and a half and get more sleep that should do the trick.

It could be, but I would recommend going to see a dermatologist for more accuracy. Hope that helps.

I thought my dark circles were due to my age (could be your mother), but I don’t think the computer has anything to do with it. I use my computer very seldom. You sound much too young for dark circles. Have you seen a dermatologist?

It can be one of the cause. Dark circles can treated with regular and gentle care.Cover your eyes with cotton soaked in luke warm milk for 15 minutes everyday to remove the dark circles around your eyes or dip cotton pads into freshly extracted mint juice, flatten them and place them on closed eyelids for 10 to 15 minutes.
