Can nose congestion lead to very dark circles under the eyes?

i have a major deviated septum, and also very dark patches under my eyes. i have always had them, but they have grown worse as i have gotten older. i recently found out that i have a deviated septum which i pretty major, and i will prob get surgery. I was wondering if that could be the cause for the dark circles. (i am aware of ALL the other causes of dark circles, but they dont apply to me, i have already tested them.)
Absolutely-my whole family suffers seasonal allergies–we resemble racoons when it’s REALLY bad…..it’s terrible.
OTH, my husband (gorgeous though he is) has inherited those classic dark half moons beneath his eyes–all the people in his father’s family had same.
My daughter has them, to an extent, but allergies make them look waaaay darker.
I think you might expect improvement post-surgery for the dev. septum.
Good luck!

Lack of sleep is the most common cause of dark circles under the eyes. If you have a "major deviated septum" you are likely to have a sleep disorder. Ask your doctor to schedule a sleep study. People who snore do so because the airways are obstructed. If this is severe enough, you dont get to the deepest stage of sleep (called REM). Many people with sleep disorders are unaware that they have them.
